In Pre-Understanding God your student will learn why the people of the Bible matter. At this age, the students are becoming accountable to the good and bad consequences of their choices. This class allows them to discuss these themes, build a Christian perspective, develop connections with other like-minded peers and learn how they can make choices, based on accounts of important people from the Bible. This class will leave after praise and worship for room 510. Click here to sign-up.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: NIV Study Bible, pen and one time fee $15.00. Books are available through Pastor Billy. A check can be mailed to Mt Zion Church, or payment can be given directly to Pastor Billy.
In Understanding God your student will learn what we as Christians actually believe. Things like baptism, gifts of the Holy Spirit, communion, confirmation, anointing with oil, and eternity. Students will have an opportunity to be baptized, confirmed into the faith and receive their first communion. This class will answer questions about God, solidify their faith and lay the foundation necessary for a healthy, vibrant Christian life. This class will leave after praise and worship for room 509. Click here to sign-up.
REQUIRED MATERIALS: NIV Study Bible (your child’s personal Bible), Understanding God book (2006 revised edition), Understanding God Student Workbook, one time fee $40.00. Books are available through Pastor Billy and are included in the class fee. A check can be mailed to Mt Zion Church, or payment can be given directly to Pastor Billy.
Note: Each of these books will be used daily. Their workbooks will be left at the church and sent home through the year for make up work. They will need their Bible at every single class. There is no discount offered if they have the Understanding God book or workbook prior to registration. Although the classes can be joined and attended at any point during the year, your child will be considered eligible for the annual Confirmation Ceremony if they attend the majority of the classes, can complete the class assessment and have completed their workbook.
In this class your child will learn how what they believe actually affects their everyday life. Applying Your Faith is a curriculum taught mainly through small group activities and lessons that are gender specific. Due to the smaller size of the groups and the integration of adult service themes and ideas, your student will get a chance to learn how to think critically about culture and its effect on biblical Christianity, how to be a part of the larger church as a whole and realize how their faith equips them to be an integral part of the church. This class will leave after praise and worship for their separate guy and girl classrooms. Click here to sign-up.

We are very excited to offer all of our Understanding God Program classes this fall. On Sunday mornings kids from 6th -9th grade for this school year can be a part of class during the 10:30am service. These classes are unique and influential for a variety of reasons. The kids that your child will spend their time with in these classes can become the group they will grow up with. Not only that but the opportunity to learn, think and experience God’s goodness in these classes where dialogue is a staple and questions are encouraged, make them really exceptional. We have a committed team of young adults and volunteers who have spent their youth growing up in the church. They have a great deal to offer your family as you work to instill and foster faith in your kids. These classes can be joined at any time. If you have questions or want more information, fill out our contact form.

In January, we will start another 13 week group using Pastor Loren’s book, Walking Worthy of the Call. It is called a Discipleship group because the emphasis is on evaluating our walk as followers to grow into greater disciples. Jesus started His ministry with 12 men that grew to many more. They were known as His disciples and they trained under His 3 year ministry to equip them for the unfolding years after His departure. Over 13 weeks, this group will strength your resolve, sharpen your insights and confront mindsets to be able to boldly proclaim I am more than a believer—I am a disciple of Jesus Christ! Join Pastor Rich & Tammy and take a next step in your journey! To join this class, fill out our sign-up form. Have questions or want more information, fill out our contact form.

In a desire to further develop and grow our Mt Zion children, we are excited to announce our Wednesday night acting and dance program. Beginning Wednesday, March 1st, Clare Carnell and Laura Niewoit will be working with our children in acting and dance, and this will replace our current K-5th grade service format. We believe this program will give our children an opportunity to learn in a different format, and we will have a showcase for parents to see the fruit of their labor. Make plans to get your children involved in our “God is with Me” production and help them get further connected. We will have production presentation on Thursday, June 8th at 6:30pm. Acting will be open to all children, Kindergarten thru 5th grade. Dance instruction will be for those children enrolled in the Mt Zion School of Performing Arts. Please note: acting auditions will be held on Wednesday, February 22nd at 7pm and the complete program begins 3/1. Click here to sign up. Everyone will get a part in the program, and if you cannot make the audition, we will still make a way for your child to be involved.
