DANCE COMPANY ACCEPTANCE & COMMITMENT
Two meeting times have been scheduled for our parents on Thursday, July 11, 2024 OR Monday, July 15, 2024 at 6:30pm (dates are tentative and will be updated when confirmed; both meetings are identical and you only need to attend one of the two sessions). Company families will receive detailed information on the coming season at these meetings. Each Company Member must provide a signed contract stating that they understand the expectations and requirements of being part of Mt. Zion’s Dance Company. The contract, signed by both the student and the parent, is to be turned in to the studio along with measurements/costume sizing and their $125 ‘refundable’ commitment fee no later than Thursday, July 18, 2024.
NEW this year, we have an OnLine Registration Form that will not only allow you to accept your Company Invitation but it will also help you calculate a budgetary estimate of your class selections and tell you which additional classes are required as part of your enrollment. We would encourage you to use our OnLine Registration Form to navigate the Dance Company details and help you plan your schedule. The $125 commitment fee will be refunded if all company attendance requirements are met as detailed below.
1. Summer Classes – summer classes are mandatory and exact dates will be announced during the Fall of the prior season for each subsequent season. Dance Camp is mandatory for all Company Members. Click here for details.
2. Company Choreography Workshops – Choreography workshops held the the last week of August and the first two weeks of September are mandatory. 2024 Workshops will be held August 26th thru Sept 13th (Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Friday). The exact schedule will be available mid-August. These workshops are mandatory, but if approved in advance each September Choreography rehearsal absence counts as two ‘excused absences’ of the allowed 5 absences for that Company Routine.
3. September thru May Class Attendance
- All absences MUST be excused.
- An excused absence is an absence provided at least 24 hours in advance either in writing or phoned in at the desk.
- For those items that cannot be planned in advance such as running late due to traffic or an illness, please contact the front desk by sending an eMail or phone call as soon as the absence becomes known and before class begins.
- Please do not take excused absences for granted. If a student does not need to miss, DON’T!
- Unexcused absences can prevent a student from competing, performing, and/or receiving back the Commitment Deposit. Unexcused absences are:
- Missing class and we have not received at least 24 hours advance notice for a preplanned, scheduled activity such as vacations or a required school event.
- Missing rehearsals, performances, or being absent from class the week prior to a scheduled performance.
- Company Routines (regularly scheduled classes and extra rehearsals).
- 5 excused absences will be allowed from each routine (if a class meets 2x per week and a student is absent from both classes, it is counted as 2 absences).
- 2 tardies equals an absence.
- Technique Classes (i.e., non-company, required classes).
- 6 excused absences will be allowed from each required technique class (if a class meets 2x per week and a student is absent from both classes, it is counted as 2 absences).
- 2 tardies equals an absence.
4. Performance Participation Requirements
- Students must meet all performance requirements including attendance at rehearsals.
- Dress rehearsal participation is mandatory to perform in an upcoming event. If a Company Member does not attend a dress rehearsal, they may not be able to perform in the subsequent event.
- Students must be in class the week prior to a scheduled competition/performance in order to perform in the subsequent event. If a Company Member is not in class the week prior to a scheduled competition/performance, they may not be able to perform in the subsequent event.
- Any absences from mandatory rehearsals or performance activities will result in forfeiture of the Company Commitment Contract Deposit.
