Counselor Training
Counselor Training is a two-year program aimed at equipping people who want to minister in the Lord's work during this time of harvest.  The program is divided into four semesters.  The first semester is called "The Heart of the Minister" and focuses on the individual student, allowing them to prepare their heart for the service of the Lord.  Preparing the heart of the minister is a foundation taken from 2 Timothy 2:21 which says, "Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel of honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work."

Semesters two and three provide instruction and demonstration, including interaction with classmates, to equip students in the skills necessary for working with people.  Some of the skills include: listening, observing, questioning, focusing, influencing, and confronting.  Semester four deals with facilitating groups.  Students are taught skills in "group dynamics" by learning to deal with personality differences through class interaction.  At the same time, they are given information to help people cope with a variety of life situations and circumstances, exploring both the psychological and spiritual components.

Counselor Training provides an opportunity for those who are involved in ministry at Mt. Zion to be "equipped for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ till we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God," as laid out for us in Ephesians 4:12-13.  Those who have taken Counselor Training in the past have found it to be of great value in preparing them for ministry, but have also found it to be a life-changing experience.  When they submitted themselves to God and asked God to do a work of preparation in them, God was faithful and they were changed.  The goal of ministry is to lead people to the life-changing experience of allowing God to work in them and in their situation.  It is to teach people of the miracle-working power of God to heal, to restore, and to rebuild; to become a demonstration of what God can do in a life until we are all conformed to His image and likeness.

Counselor Training provides instruction, as well as the opportunity to experience firsthand what God can do.  Whereby you can not only be a minister, but a living demonstration of the power of God at work.  Upon completion of this two-year program, graduates begin to counsel under the direction of Dr. Jeanne Cagle, L.P.C. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." It is Dr. Cagle's goal to prepare as many people as possible to help others through the counseling ministry.

The next two-year session will be offered in 2010.
